THINGS TO DO!

Nature offers you a wide range of walks, viewpoints, lakes and waterfalls…
On your own, as a couple, or with your family and friends, you can get to the site of Lapiaz from the house, go for a walk to the panoramic viewpoint of Repenty (which is easily accessible for everybody and from where you can see the Fort in Les Rousses) or, for more experienced hikers, try Pissevieille waterfall.
You will be able to stroll around the lake in Lamoura, discover a peat bog, spot the difference between a bilberry and a blueberry or watch the droseras, these famous carnivorous plants.
A must-see is definitely the famous “Cascades du Hérisson” (Hedgehog’s Waterfalls), but you shouldn’t miss the “Gorges de la Langouette”, a more peaceful place closer to our home, the “Gorges du Fulmen”, “Les cascades de la queue de cheval et de la queue d’âne” (The ponytail and the donkey tail waterfalls) , “Le trou de l’abîme” (The abyss hole), without forgetting the “Chapeau de Gendarme” (the policeman’s hat), a geological curiosity which faces another scenic spot called “Le Saut du Chien” (The dog’s jump), on the road between the village of Lamoura and the town of Saint-Claude.

Thrilling experiences: - via ferrata in Morez & canyoning in Saint-Claude.
tree climbing adventure in Les Rousses & le Col de la Faucille (only in summer)

Our personal favourite: “La maison de la flore” in Longchaumois.
Open from 15th June to 31st August, they offer an entertaining and educational tour, a wonderful park, a botanical footpath, a flower exhibition, bird-watching spots and lots of other surprises…

Visits: you will find all the opening hours and more detailed descriptions of the different places of interest in the region among our booklets about the Jura.
Museums: glasses, pipe and precious stones, “boissellerie” (wood craft industry), the ecomuseum “La
maison Michaud”, the house of enamel…

Art & crafts (display and sale):
    - glass: creation and restoration of stained glass.
    - leather: leather goods, decorative items, engravings…
    - the lapidary: cutting of cameos and diamonds.
    - the periscope: work on horn and galalithe, the ancestor of plastic.
    - the making of “Horloges comtoises”, typical “small” clocks from Franche-
       Comté.
    - Mr Blot’s cutlery works, who created the knife from Jura.

Outlets:
   - “Layetterie”: manufacture of typical spruce chest of drawers.
   - Gaudard firm: oil and electric lamps.

In winter:
   - on the premises: sledge, snowshoes, cross-country ski and other winter
      games…
   - downhill ski resorts: Les Rousses, Bellefontaine, Lamoura 20km from our
      place.
+ Gérard, a qualified ski instructor (ESF: Ecole de Ski Français, the national ski
school), offers you his services (depending on his availability) to improve
your ski technique or to take you for a ride in the wilderness.

The tourist kiosk in the village of Longchaumois is open all year round. They propose night walks, welcome drinks and various other activities.
